Yuka Kobayashi
大学で哲学を専攻し、卒業後病院に勤務する傍ら、東京の原宿KAWAIIファッションを好むようになり、ロリータファッションの着用や独学で衣装制作を始める。
2017年にJICAの青年海外協力隊にて西アフリカのベナンの社会福祉センターで障がい者や孤児の支援を行う。西アフリカの文化である色鮮やかなアフリカンワックスプリントに夢中になり、原宿ファッションとアフリカンファッションのシンパシーを感じ、アフリカ布を使用したロリータファッションをデザインする。2019年、日本に帰国後、洋裁スクールに通い服飾の勉強を始める。
2021年、世界初で唯一無二、アフリカン布を使ったロリータファッションブランド「Melanger Etranger」（メランジェエトランジェ）設立。Melanger Etrangerはフランス語で「海外のものを混ぜる」という意味で、日本、アフリカ、アジア、ヨーロッパなど様々な地域の伝統的な文化を混ぜ合わせ、互いの文化へのリスペクトし、新たな価値を生み出すという思いが込められている。その作品はアフリカ布のパワーと中世ヨーロッパのような華やかなスタイルと原宿の少女のようなポップさを共存させている。また、多くの人にアフリカの魅力を伝えるため、ユニセックスのシャツや、アフリカ布のウエディングドレスやタキシードの製作も行っている。もし一度Melanger Etrangerを着たならば斬新で華やかの世界の虜になるでしょう。
Yuka Kobayashi was born in Japan and majored in philosophy at a Japanese university. After graduating, while working at a hospital, she liked Harajuku kawaii fashion in Tokyo, and started wearing Lolita fashion like medieval European aristocrats and self-taught costume making. In 2017, she joined JICA's Japan Overseas Cooperation Volunteers to support people with disabilities and orphans at a social welfare center in Benin, West Africa. She fell in love with the colorful African wax prints of West African culture. She feels sympathy for Harajuku fashion and African fashion, and she designs Lolita fashion using African fabrics. In 2019, after she returned to Japan, she attended a dressmaking school and started studying her clothing.
In 2021, she established "Melanger Etranger", the world's first and only Lolita fashion brand using African fabrics. Melanger Etranger means "to mix foreign things" in French, and it is to mix the traditional cultures of various regions such as Japan, Africa, Asia, and Europe, respect each other's culture, and create new value. Thoughts are put into it. Her work coexists with the power of African fabrics, the glamorous style of medieval Europe, and the pop of Harajuku girls. She also makes unisex shirts, wedding dresses and tuxedos in African fabrics because she wants to spread the charm of Africa to many people.
